Formal structures ito open up more effective communication is a long term process that requires participation of PAC's and the Principal, This process will require much time and may include meetings between and workshops with all stake-holders.

Develop means for effective participation in decision making for students and parents.

Resources – Staff volunteer/liason
Suggestions:
- Open house day
- PTA involved in the school
- More effective student council
Additional suggestions/comments:
- Why not include the discipline committee?
- What role does the superintendent and asst. superintendent have in setting up PTA? Do they want one?
- Student council involvement in a leadership role, great idea.
- PAC ect.
- Rotate students involved in any format.
- Using parents? Board members?
Summary:
Developing means for effective participation in decision making for students and parents will involve staff, principal , school board and community members in PTA format. Their activites will involve open house day, PTA participation in school-wide decision-making and a more effective student council. Other ideas to increase participation in decision-making may be to include the school disipline committee and PAC. Recommendation #3
Develop and adopt grouping practices that foster heterogeneity.

1. Is heterogeneous grouping the best system/choice for our school?
2. Shouldn’t we decide as a faculty if we are heading in this direction?
3. Is this the best method of meeting the academic needs of the students or is it being considered for purposes of classroom control?
4. What are the expectations of the accreditation group? Is heterogeneous groups “to be”?
A stipend committee should be created to study effective practices of heterogeneous grouping, its validity, and possible implementation at SAHS.
Summary:
In order to develop and adopt grouping practices which foster hetergeneity will involve the principal, guidance personnel, and department heads. A stipend committee should be created to study effective practices of heterogeneous grouping, its validity, and possible implementation at SAHS and determine whether it meets the academic needs of the students. The committee will need to consider resources such as staff training, RTI, and Technology.

In order to insure that class sizes adequatly meet the learning needs of individual students, the principal, staff and guidance will have to work on the following; scheduling, increasing classroom space (more rooms for classes), increasing the number of Ed techs and teachers, and incorporating interventions.
